Doctor using own medicine and musings

Msn advertises on Google, Google and Yahoo use PPC on each others site, Mozilla made $53 milliion in 2005 mostly from Google, Opera browser has Google, amazon and eBay.

I love it, perhaps they will see what many are experiencing – the price of keyword phrases has gotten out of hand. Not in all cases but certainly in the main areas. Gee – I wonder how Google made $7 billion in sales last year. Ah but there is belief that Google may slow down to a more modest 47% growth rate down from 80% – I feel so sorry for them.

Perhaps the search engines will come up with some new ideas?? yeah right

My feeling is perhaps the bigger issue is that we will come back to what should have been part of the equation all along – conversion once the prospects get to your site. If the amount of time being spent now on the PPC was spent on the site itself in converting the visitors to buyers the results would be much more rewarding.

I believe the age old saying – lets get back to basics. The other take away may sound a bit self serving but I will say it anyway – Put your money into optimization – prospects click there at a much higher rate anyway.
I know there are times when the PPC still makes sense – - BUT!!!!
