Steven Speilberg has teamed up with reality TV producer Mark Burnett to produce Onthelot.com in which aspiring filmakers are given the chance to earn a $1 million development deal all submitted and voted by users via the web.

The latest big name to start tackling Video on the web is Steven Bochco who is going to present a series of confessional short videos.

“The analogy I have used is that of an electronic campfire,” Bochco said. “I’m the camp counselor, and my job is to tell a couple of really nifty little stories that will inspire everybody else around the campfire to start sharing their stories, and once that generates its own momentum, get the hell out of the way and let everybody have a good time.”

They’ve produced 9 of the anticipated 44 shorts which have been very popular so far, cementing the role of web videos as a viable medium for advertising and marketing.  Have a look at the collection over at MetaCafe.
