International Search Marketing
Right now I’m sitting in some friend’s house in Tallin, Estonia….a surprisingly wired and wireless city. It got me thinking about how users here search so I asked my friend. He says Google. Google automatically adjusts to the location and any given search will reveal local results first unless otherwise specified. I thought I’d check out some of the sites that my clients rank well for and sure enough, they didn’t appear anywhere until I noticed that their local results did. This certainly demonstrated to me the value that Google’s local search has. I continue to highly recommend it.
While Dinkum has had some success with International Search Marketing, it’s tough to justify financially. To fully perform, you would be looking at spending a lot of time and energy and as a result, some big bucks to be listed somewhere that may not even be necessary to you particular business. Try to determine the need before even considering where you want your site to be.
Keep in mind that you do have more control over the paid search ads. If you need your site to be shown in search results here in Estonia, Google offers that option.
