Local Business Listings: Good for SEO, Good for Business
One of the best things about the internet is the ability to generate a big return on a modest investment. While there are many tools and services that can help smaller businesses compete with the big boys, one of the most impactful is registering a location-based business in local business directories like Google Local, Yahoo Local and YellowBook. It’s free, drives qualified local traffic to your business and you don’t need a website (but if you do, it will help that too).
Have you ever searched for a local product or service online? If you were located in Springfield, PA and were trying to find a moving company this is what you might see:

You may notice that 10 listings appear at the top of the search engine results page for the search “springfield, pa mover” – above the listings that everyone works very hard to achieve!
Of course formatting your local business listing may be a bit more involved than simply signing up for an account, but a properly completed business profile can not only offer a valuable SEO benefit, but also drive prospects to your door.

nice….
hey cam u tell me how to find local directories for london..???
I think coupling the local business listing with great SEO techniques on a site would do wonders for any small business, its just getting the know how, which isnt all that hard, out there to these business owners and webmasters.
Well, local listings have become mainstream, how do I know? They are being spammed HEAVILY ;-) Companies who don’t have presence in a zip code are spamming google local listings for that zip code. For small business it’s a godsend because it gives them listing in search engines without spending thousands of dollars big players are willing to spend.
