Marketing News
Did you happen to get the latest AMA (American Marketing Association) news on Internet advertising?
No – well let me summarize it here for you:
First blogging – number of blogs is doubling every 6 months – duh!, The blogosphere is 60 times bigger than just 3 years ago, by April of 2006 the number was at 34.5 million.
Podcasting – broken down by active podcast audience versus total podcast audience:
2006 active – 3 million, total 10 million
by 2010 active 15 million, total 50 million
not sure I completely buy that one but I am only reporting what the AMA stated.
Growth in US paid search spending:
2005 – 4.2 billion
by 2010 7.5 billion
Not bad almost double in a few years
This one might be interesting to some of you – Shares of Internet advertising spending, as a percentage of total revenue:
Industry 2004 2005
Consumer 49% 51%
Computing 18% 13%
Financial Services 17% 12%
Telecom 4% 7%

Broadband adoption:
2006 49.4% of households
by 2010 69% These figures are the percentage of those online not of all households.

Well this is just some of the good stuff coming out. Now if we could only get more of that money being spent AFTER the right research was completed instead of what I hear too often – “well it sounded like this is where we should be”.
