Pixability: Snackable Video

Video SEO.
Online video is hot and businesses of all types can use it in all sorts of useful ways. That’s why I was intrigued when I stumbled across an ad for a video service in a recent edition of Peter Shenkman’s HARO . Pixability creates videos for smaller businesses by providing a video camera, a guide and compiling the result into a professionally edited video. I’m conflicted; I can’t decide whether a service like this is good or bad.
Here are just a few thoughts on such an online video service:
The Good
- It’s Quick – No “Paralysis by Analysis”
- It’s Inexpensive to Get Started – No Need to Spend Time
- It’s Convenient – You Can Upload Your Footage Now
Ok, doesn’t it sound like a bag of Cheetos: Fast, Cheap and Easy?
The Bad
- Garbage In, Garbage Out – Technical ability cannot overcome a terrible concept or bad filming. Unfortunately, we all fall into the trap of thinking that our ideas and abilities are good. Services like Pixability remove an important reality check.
- It’s Expensive – For businesses that want to create more than a couple videos, a service like Pixability is expensive for what you get. $595 per video can really add up.
- It’s Limited – Video services are limited to providing just the facts. There is little room for creativity which limits a business’ ability to differentiate itself from everyone else.
My Opinion
I think that services like Pixability are a good option as long as a business fully understands what it’s getting for the investment. Like a bag of Cheetos to a hungry person, it fills an immediate need, but may not be a substitute for a full meal.

I think it’s hard to judge the uptake of any viral campaign as the general taste of users of services like youtube are so broad how can you guarantee a hit? you only have to look at “charlie bit my finger” to see that unintentional success makes it that more harder to plan and deliver an effective viral ad
SEO,
I agree with you, however I don’t think that Pixability has anything to do with creating a “viral” ad nor would I suggest using it for such a project. It’s plain vanilla video creation. Also, you’ll probably go broke before ever seeing any type of viral success.
