People are worrying when Google’s next update of Page Rank score will be rolled out and if their site will be adjusted up or down.

Page Rank score are at the whim of Google and can and do change periodically despite your best efforts. Also Page Rank only is pertinent to Google not Yahoo or MSN.
After the basic of good SEO are implemented it is far better to focus energy on building high quality content. What would make your blog more engaging?

If you haven’t had a chance, take a moment and visit Brightcove.com. Brightcove is a video publishing utility that allows sites to create and upload their own video channel. Dozens of well known brands use Brightcove to power the video on their site including National Geographic, Discovery Channel and GM, just to name a few. You can see an extensive listing here. While used by the “big boys”, smaller publishers may also want to consider using their service. As you can see here at their BrightCove.TV site, there are dozens of niche offerings who also take advantage of the BrightCove technology. They offer powerful publishing tools, as well as a fairly robust internet TV community. There is also offer a free white paper that outlines 5 Steps to Internet TV Success.

1. Create Context
Weave video into the fabric of your site. Don’t just slap it up there in a big square box and expect people to watch.

2. Encourage Snacking
Provide a variety of short snippets for people to watch, and sprinkle them across various pages on your site.

3. Produce for the Medium
The internet is a “lean-in” medium, so clips that have a strong and engaging personality speaking directly to the camera can draw an audience.

4. Use Viral Distribution
You can syndicate your content or rely on viral distribution of your content. Either way, make sure you have edgy, interesting content that will catch people’s attention. There are numerous tactical sites that can help you go viral and/or help with syndication.

5. Monetize Your Audience
Monetization is not a one size fits all proposition. Nor should you count on any single tactic to maximize your monetization. Instead, plan on building out a variety of revenue streams around your content, experimenting and improving as you go.

To read the entire paper, just click here.

That’s right. This is a FREE eBook. Now in most cases you get what you pay for, but that’s not the case with How To Become Popular On YouTube (Without Any Talent). No, Nalts’ eBook really does have page after page of good, “actionable” advice for the both the beginning and advanced YouTube mogul-wannabes out there.

Some of the especially shiny nuggets can be found in the wildly popular Chapter 4 – How To Make Videos That Don’t Suck:

Popular videos tend to be short, fast-paced, and offer a “big finish”.

When possible, use an external microphone and avoid public places with horrible acoustics and ambient sounds.

Your video is more than just the video. Your thumbnail, description, title and even keyword tags are part of the package. If these elements aren’t consistent with your video idea, it won’t have the same impact.

One of the biggest things to come out of this year is social media…well it actually came out a few years ago but its adoption was far greater this year and will most likely continue. We offer this to our clients (not a lot have taken us up on it) and have seen some great results come out of it.

So what is it and how do I get in on the action? While it depends on who you are and what you do but here’s a few ideas for you.

Increase your social presence – Social media websites like MySpace and Facebook are a good start but there are so many more out there like LinkedIn and StumbleUpon. Introduce yourself to them. Let the community know that you are there whether you are providing a service ro offering products, folks are looking for you through all sorts of channels. Especially look to Social Network websites in your particular niche because they too, are out there.

Get a Blog – Seems so “old school” these days but still a fabulous way to reach out to prospective customers. Maybe you will be getting a few folks coming through every now and again. Maybe you will get people subscribing and commenting regularly. This is another way to get yourself out there. We certainly prefer to go with WordPress and make sure to include the plug-ins available to take advantage of more social features like bookmarking (delicious, technorati) and news sites (digg)

Video – particularly if you have products to show off, show em off! Take advantage of the immense popularity of YouTube and other video networking sites to reach out to clients. Short clips like the ones we did for Sales Packaging and even our own have done wonders to spread the word.

There are just a handful of ideas to get you started.
